Material manufacturer Xampla has appointed a new chief executive to scale-up the business.

Alexandra French, an experienced chemist with a degree in natural sciences from the University of Cambridge, has joined Xampla to lead it through the next phase of growth.

She has extensive experience after 25 years at specialty chemicals company, Johnson Matthey, where she held a variety of senior leadership, commercial, operation and technical roles, and her most recent role leading operations at AIM listed company, Titon, across the UK, Europe, the US and South Korea.

French will spearhead Xampla as the business scales up operations and partnerships with leading brands and manufacturers.

Last month Xampla launched its first consumer brand – Morro, a plastic-free material which is not chemically modified, and can break down with food waste.

“I am really excited to be joining such an inspiring company, with a compelling mission, groundbreaking technology, a fabulous team and company values that are completely aligned with my own,” said French. “As a business leader and CEO, I have a track record of delivering results and I look forward to bringing my leadership experience to Xampla.”
